Controlling your bar costs

Controlling your bar costs

Without selling one additional drink at your bar, you can increase your bottom line by effectively reducing your costs.  Many bar managers and owners look to reducing costs in areas such as “over pouring” using one of the many pour control devices available on the market.  Not only does this reduce the over pour factor but it can discourage bartender offering “free drinks.”  Managing a bars labor costs is probably the most looked at cost on the expense report.  Whether it’s union or non-union, the cost of labor can be the difference between success and failure. Controlling labor costs and controlling liquor measurement is vital to holding onto as much of each sales dollar as possible.  I know what has been said here is something that every person reading this article knows already.  What I also know is that the USA-made Smartender automated cocktail dispenser effectively reduces labor costs, controls the pour accurately per the desired recipe. It does not over/under pour and it works 24/7.

Recently Smart Bar USA announced the new Smartender A5000 Modular unit. The A5000 series Smartender fully integrates into most POS systems as well as all existing pump rooms. Smart Bar USA also builds and installs custom pump rooms for its customers. The A5000 head is mounted directly onto a bar top and is connected into existing pump room liquor lines for all liquor, wine (optional), syrups and CO2.  Cocktail servers post their orders into the existing POS as normal.  The order then appears on the touch screen of the Smartender. The server then places a glass under the nozzle and presses pour. Out comes the cocktail made perfectly to the desired recipe. Instructions to garnish are on the Smartender screen.  The Epson printer prints a ticket, and the server is off to deliver the cocktail to the customer.  No interaction with a bartender, resulting in faster service, less costs, no shrinkage and every sale is recorded into the POS. The A5000 model is a true workhorse and pours complex cocktails in under 4 seconds.

The A5000 series comes in 18, 34 and 50 liquor dispensing models. These systems were designed for both front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) installations. The new A5000 series low profile and sleek design takes up less space than its predecessor, the A1600/A3200 series.
